1. Comercial and operative questions for end user

I had mounted D4P in the rear and Display LED to inform in the front. Now I want to mount a FRONT extension and a second display back. How do I connect the displays?

D4P is a system that requires only a single unit to control two displays, since the unit features both connections, front and rear. The D4P displays are equal, both front and rear, making them behave differently is precisely how you are configured and where they connect. In this case the display is connected to REAR connection unit is located in front. As we will now use this display to provide information to the front, so we have to do is unplug the unit and plug it into the FRONT connection. How many ECU or D4P kits is needed to install 4 FRONT + 4 REAR sensors?

This is one of the big advantages to using D4P. ONLY NEED ONE CONTROL UNIT. Remember D4P control unit, which is included in the PLUS and STANDARD kits defaults to 8 channels (4 for front and 4 for rear). So for example you can install REAR kit and in the future expand its facility, riding in the front a EXTENDED kit, which includes only the sensors and wiring and adapters for mounting.

Is there any additional interface or CAN BUS D4P need to install?

IT IS NOT NECESSARY.

D4P included in a single unit all the connections necessary to connect to vehicle CAN BUS. Also D4P is the only system that incorporates two CAN buses, one for input and one output. Thus D4P is able not only to read information from the vehicle to operate with it, but in some cases, making transparent encodings or add to the existing information. A typical case of this type of connection is VW, SEAT and SKODA, where 2 full bus D4P CAN be used. For this type of connection, we recommend using the Plug & Play Cable appropriate for each vehicle in order to avoid mistakes in the connections.

Do I need to make some coding in the vehicle to D4P works?

IT IS NOT NECESSARY. The only situation in which the vehicle should know that D4P is installed, is in cases where required to interact with other vehicle systems, such as when installed in a vehicle that represents graphical information. In such cases D4P level functions primarily encoding unit Radio. Thus avoiding errors in diagnosis, being totally transparent to it.

A common situation is the installation in VW, SEAT and SKODA, where 2 full bus D4P CAN be used. For this type of connection, we recommend using the Plug & Play Cable appropriate for each vehicle in order to avoid mistakes in the connections.

I have to paint the sensors to color of bumper, what to do, is it posible you?

Sensor layer is ALUMINUM because D4P use Digital Sensors and not analog ones.

STANDARD or PLUS kit is already installed, do I need to mount a FRONT extension?

In the event your vehicle incorporates an STANDARD or PLUS kit already installed and want to add 4 additional sensors in the front , you need to ask your provider for a EXTENDED kit. The EXTENDED kit includes 4 digital sensors with their respective brakets, interconnecting wiring of sensors, wiring and interconnection to a loudspeaker unit.

Simply that you are ready to expand your system, remember that parking D4P switchboards and come standard with free 8 sensors (4 front and 4 rear). In addition if your vehicle represents information graphically in the original system screens or navigation radio will not need any additional interface. D4P added that information automatically.

How far detected as minimum and maximum sensor D4P?

This is a very common users question, but is not as easy to answer as D4P changes sensing distance depending on the vehicle in which it is installed, following the patterns of distance and detection of the original systems manufacturer vehicle.
In general we can distinguish between two casuistry:

  • D4P support is installed on a vehicle from Group I or II:
    • In this case the distance marks the Digi4Park® standard, which is 1.6 to 1.8 for the front and back.
  • D4P support is installed on a vehicle of the Group III:
    • In this case the distances the brand’s own brand of vehicle. For instance in BMW and MINI is 2 meters in front and behind and VW, SEAT and SKODA are 1.6 m forward and 1.8 back.

Note that the distance that is automatically activated when a front obstacle sensors below 10 km/h with a forward motion is detected, it is about 1 m.

Sometimes I install a bike rack or a tow truck in my car. What about Digi4Park?

Normally when a towbar is fitted , it rarely affects the system parking sensors if the sensors are mounted factory because the vehicle manufacturer has taken into account the distance and angle detection sensors and the position of thereof and two size , but this is not always so.

Digi4Park® is a universal sensor kit, so we should be prepared to provide a solution for any environment or situation or most that we can present. Is is posible to see in the original screen of my Radio o Navigation system the Graphic D4P information?

YES OF COURSE, but not on all vehicles, only vehicles that are COMPATIBLE WITH GROUP III. Permanently our engineering team is working on new compatibilities, both group II and group III. My vehicle was not compatible with a function and yes it is now, What can I do to update D4P?

All Digi4Park® control units include a mini USB port for upgrades. To upgrade you must have disconnected THE POWER of the car of the unit D4P and connected to a computer via cable upgrade. The unit will be powered via the mini USB power cable.

Then you must have the following items to upgrade:

  • 1 x mini USB Cable
  • 1 x computer with a USB port
  • Digi4Park ® program update (Software & Updates)
  • The file with the new data (Software & Updates)
  • The manual update (Software & Updates)

I’d like to hear higher volume of obstacle proximity warning [BEEP] of D4P, what can I do?

The D4P control unit includes 2 potentiometers to adjust the volume of each speaker. It is highly recommended that you place the speakers in their final positions and if it is also possible, they are positioned at the front and rear of the vehicle so that the driver can identify the source of the sound with the impact zone.

In case you are installing D4P in a vehicle that supports the use of the original speakers, as D4P will not need to use our speakers, since the sound sensor output from the speakers of the vehicle, such as BMW and Peugeot among other. I have only rear sensors D4P, Is it recommended to install the LED Display and where can I put it?

The LED display is a good tool for full system information on vehicles COMPATIBILITY GROUP I and II. Remember that these groups can not show the information on the screens of the vehicle, or because they can not stand still D4P does not support it or because the vehicle itself.

If you only install D4P in the rear of the vehicle we recommend that you mount the display in the front. So you will see the information without removing the front view. Remember that you can also place the display at the top end of the roof and view the display in the mirror. Such a configuration is recommended when you are installing front and rear sensors so that the front display would provide information of the front and rear sensors rear display

I have FRONT and REAR sensors and want to install D4P LED Display, Where can mount or is recommended?

When you are installing front and rear sensors and want to use two displays, it makes sense in a vehicle is put on a display in the front and one in the rear. To mount a display in the rear, it is mandatory that the vehicle incorporates a rearview mirror, as we use to see it reflected in the display.

2. End user tech support and troubleshooting

Where can I found the CAN BUS Lines in the car to Connect Digi4Park® CAN BUS Lines?

Information on connection points signals in order to connect D4P to the CAN BUS vehicle is not listed in the manual because D4P vary depending on the vehicle model. Where should I mount the D4P Unit Control?

D4P control unit must be installed close to the car radio unit place as we usually read the required information from the CAN BUS radio (infotainment). However, in some vehicles such information may not in radio or do not enter it but MOST CAN information. In this case the vehicle should look in the database D4P car to check the connection points.

Remember that the information BB.DD. of D4P is constantly updating and which complements the universal information shown in the installation manual. In the event that the CAN BUS is not present on the radio and also not report on its connection point or unknown, please contact us via tikets system so we can provide extended information about the connection. Remember that you need the SERIAL NUMBER of your D4P control unit to request such information.

How should I paint D4P sensors to not have any problems?

This is a really important question. There are two points to keep in mind when painting the sensors:

  • Do not stain or damage the surface with the thread
  • Before painting sensors must remove paint or part thereof bearing factory.

To paint the sensors conveniently has two options. Use masking tape to protect the system thread or use the template incorporating D4P boxes. Within the instructions you find a painted sheet which reports the process to follow to use the box, painted template and useful punch to make holes in the box D4P. No problem if the rubber that is inserted into the sensor side but should paint the sensor without the rubber finish, and standing upon completion of installation.

Furthermore remember D4P sensors are aluminum and are painted factory black. Normally the black color is the most used in vehicles since many of them incorporate defenses or black bumpers for the area of the sensors while the car of another color. If the sensors be painted another color should lightly sand the sensors before painting again (you will see the aluminum surface behind the black paint), otherwise the new paint will not properly set and also subtracted detection power sensor.

The vehicle has original assistance systems such as Distronic driving, PROXIMITY RADAR, etc. from Factory. Can affect D4P?

NORMALLY NOT. In Digi4Park® we have tested radar detection systems such as Stinger or with assistance systems such as Distronic driving system by Mercedes Benz and have had no interference problems. Note that the wiring has a mesh D4P protection against electromagnetic interference and also the information sent by the wiring is digital, so that information is only taken into account if it arrives without errors. If there were any errors in the data, the information is eliminated.

Notwithstanding own electronic sensor itself may be subjected to interference. This Digi4Park® protection is working on both magnetic and electronic level to be included in the production phase of the product (MAY 2014) . Currently in preproduction product, external EMI protection systems are used, such as aluminum tape for the sensor.

Why when the vehicle is moving forward not sound rear speaker?

Because D4P is designed in that way. It has no special meaning the rear speaker sounds when the vehicle is moving forward, as it might attract undue alerts. The objective of the sensor system to alert the driver of a possible collision with an obstacle when moving in one direction. If it does not move in that direction does not make sense alert.

Note that if the vehicle incorporates front and rear sensors when the vehicle moves , it is normal that the system only alerted acoustically front.

However if the vehicle is moved back, then the front speaker will sounds if detect a close obstacle, because in the backward movement the front area of the car can be approximated to a barrier to turn the vehicle.

In both cases, however the LED DISPLAY will keep to you informed about the distance to the obstacle and also by the vehicle OEM screen, if it is within the GROUP III compatibility. Check the behavior diagram manual for further information.

Note that in some cases some concepts of the logic of the sensor system manufacturer original D4P override. An example of this type occurs in BMW vehicles compatible with the GROUP III. When I stop at a pedestrian crossing or in a vehicle near a retention system is automatically activated. What can I do, how this system works?

If the system is automatically activated when it is moving, it is because it has detected an obstacle closer than one meter to the front bumper. The LED on the button flashes constantly when D4P Parking is on, what can be?

When the D4P button LED light is blinking, the system is warning that there is an alert condition that may be related to the following reasons:

  • Fault on sensor : This would happen without no communication with any of the sensors. Check if you have only one D4P system installed REAR and DIP 1 is ON (It should be OFF ). It also has two options to check which sensor is bad, look at the RED and GREEN LED’s D4P control unit, if they are blinking, indicate that a sensor in your one área is fault (RED – FRONT / GREEN – REAR). The number of flashes indicates the number of faulty sensor (1 to 4). How do I know if a sensor has failed?

If a sensor is defective, the D4P control unit emit a series of flashes of the LEDs in RED and GREEN incorporated, the control unit indicates the number of faulty sensor. Note that if you have left off all sensors, each LED will blink four times, indicating that the high level sensor is detected. If you change the sensor and the error persists, sure the problem is the cable or which are not seen are rear sensors, check that they are not active.

In addition if you connect a LED display to the area with fault sensor, the LED display will show for 2 seconds the total number of faulty sensors (E4 = all sensors) and the location of the fault (red LED of display)

I have a Digi4Park® LED Display and the display shows me an initial message type [E1] instead of [–] What can it be?

If the Digi4Park® LED display show a message during the first two seconds after activation of the type [Ex], indicates that there is an error in a sensor. The “x” is replaced by the number of faulty sensors in total, to indicate the position of the faulty sensors on each side of the vehicle the four red LEDs that are next to the orange digits show the fault sensor. So what red light will means “damaged sensor”. The message disappears after 2 seconds.

They seem to have stopped working REAR sensors and they worked before what could be?

In this case there can only be two reasons why the rear sensors are not displayed or not work:

  • The first is you have disabled the back by truck or tow (Remember that in this case the button will flash in a special way)
  • The second is that the rear sensors are physically disconnected. In this case in addition to the button flashes D4P note that the green LED on the unit will flash 4 times.

The BLUE light in the D4P unit control flashes, What’s going on?

If the blue light of D4P control unit is blinking and after a short time it switch off, is that it is not detecting the vehicle CAN BUS. If it D4P control unit can not detect the CAN the system will power to off. It’s an interesting way to check if you have connected the CAN BUS backwards. Check your connections. The RED or GREEN light in the D4P unit control flashes, What’s going on?

If red or green lights that are on the control unit D4P blink, an error in one of the system sensors. An error may be due to 2 reasons:

  • The sensor is not connected to the sensor wiring. Check the connection or the fault sensor to the sensor wire and also to the between sensor and extensión wires.
  • The sensor is defective. This problem is very difficult to occur because the sensors are checked 2 times before selling, but it may be the case party has during installation if not installed properly.

  • Review the red or green LED in the D4P unit control. If any flashes indicates a sensor error of equal numbers to the number of flashes.

Digi4Park? ® is a company or a Trade Mark, who we are?

Indeed Digi4Park® is a Registered Trade Mark. Our goal is to develop and market a global solution, with importers and manufacturers agents, the parties responsible for marketing and distributing the product. So in all commercial information Digi4Park ® there is no information about the manufacturer. So while we protect freedom to be able to market the product in each country.

However we have two centers of physical production in Spain and Germany as well as established companies paths from which business and global technical support is given. For any commercial or fiscal issues are either responsible companies which offer adequate support, as well as to sign any contract or commitment to product marketing.

For this reason both companies remain in the background, as we prefer is to brand image and not companies for this product.
